I would recommend that if anyone decides to get work done at Bikes to Fit you demand they call you with a quote for parts ON TOP of the quote for works BEFORE they do any works otherwise they could do what they did to me. The result was that the parts more than doubled the price of the service. They could have taken three minutes to call and explain what needed to be changed, how much it would cost and if there were options on the parts they could use (for example - he decided I would want puncture proof tyres). He knew I was faced with two choices - I refuse to pay, they take the parts out and my bike would have been rendered useless or I pay. I felt I was left with no choice.

I purchased a bike seat for an infant, and was told no more parts were required and that installation was free. I also decided to get my bike serviced. The estimate on the bike service was $130. Collected my bike to a $290 invoice. When I inquired about the huge gap between the estimate and the invoice the Director/bike mechanic (Mark) basically said a lot of the gear needed replacing (all cables, a tube, a tyre) so he did work and installed $160 worth of parts without a courtesy call or a confirmation that I wanted those works done. My bike is less than two years old. Those parts included an additional part for the baby seat. I think Bikes to Fit are of the view that it is easier to ask for forgiveness than it is to ask for permission.

I am satisfied with the work done (the one star). I am unsure of the prices charged for parts. I am really disappointed with the lack of communication and that they decided to do a very expensive service without checking with me first, and not advising me there was a cost to installing the baby seat when I was previously told it was free (the baby seat cost about $240).

The till and floor staff are fine. Polite and helpful. The Director obviously wants to make a profit and doesn't seem too concerned about whether you return or not. I offered him to suggest a way forward, but he wasn't interested. I notified him I would be reviewing his business.

I'm traveling through NT and had my bike damaged while on the rear carrier of my van. I approachef 2 other shops near here but the service provided by Mark was absolutely excellent. They really know customer service and I highly recommend them. Go straight to Bikes to Fit for your cycling needs or repairs, they are the best!
